Jon Welsh Rasmussen (born 10 Aug 3147) is an Andonian-born Anaxian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, best known for his work as lead vocalist of Anaxian progrock band Dethro Dull. Rasmussen was accused of involvement in the murder of a fellow student on Andoni in 3165 and was subsequently sentenced to death, spending 17 months in prison. In early 3167, his case was revisited after the central testimony against him turned out to be false and he was acquitted of the crime due to lack of evidence. The real murderer has never been found.

Rasmussen went on to enroll at the University of Anaximander and founded Dethro Dull later that year. His experiences in prison have informed many aspects of the band's work, including its name. In an interview with Drifting Asteroid, Rasmussen spoke about his experience in the death tract, saying: "It was hell. At first I was raging mad about the injustice of it all. I hadn't done it, I knew that and yet, here I was. I shouted at everyone, inmates, guards, my family when they were allowed to visit. That didn't make any of it easier for me, of course. After two months or so I was just spent. I fell into a deep depression. I was so lethargic all I could do was literally sit there and stare at the wall. And then, even more horrible than the raging anger or deep despair, I experienced a new emotion with an intensity that was entirely new to me: boredom. I'm aware of how this must sound to you but after all my emotional energy was burned out, complete and utter boredom permeated every fibre of my being. It's what's most prominent in my memories of that time and I've since sworn to chase every bit of dangerous, unsteady excitement this sector has to offer. *laughs* And that's when I met Elly."
