The Traveler Society is a collective of scientists that freely trade information, jobs, lifts and credits. Anyone can join the Traveler Society so long as they spend the majority of their time on ships and stations, as a result of these requirements the society is made up of largely mercenaries, ship captains, cargo haulers and the independently wealthy.
Some have claimed that the Traveler's Society is a front for a smuggling ring, the Traveler's trustees have responded that they do not support any form of criminal activity. The Society is aware that smugglers and the like do fulfill their membership criteria and therefore do state on their Space Net page that you should not take Travelers Society membership as proof of intention, and disregard all claims that they are responsible for the issues that may befall the unwary.
